DescriptionOriginal in Sypherd Papers. Has rained almost continuously since July 1; loves sunshine and is bored by so much rain, but should be happy on Company's account; dams all full and can use hydro plants at full capacity and save tremendous amounts in fuel; has been very lazy, but feeling much better; Life wanted to publish some of Messersmith's notes on Cordell Hull first week after Hull's death; while in hospital in Boston received telephone call from them immediately after Hull's death and said they planned to do mainly picture story and fill in with some of Messersmith's notes; thought that would give distorted and inadequate picture, and told them not to use notes; extraordinary how little reference to Hull's passing appeared in daily and weekly papers, after great part he played in shaping affairs for so many years; people today seem to live just for the day; should keep in mind experience of past and have vision of shape of things in the future; has not heard when Rodney Sharp is coming; thinks he may still be in Europe; Sypherd may be sure nothing indiscreet will be said to Sharp about Sypherd's book.en_US
