Plan for Rocky Run Environmental Protection (PRREP)

Abstract
The watershed management plan for Rocky Run, a tributary of the Brandywine Creek in New Castle County, Delaware, aims to restore the stream to support designated and desired uses while preserving its natural characteristics and aquatic biological communities. Rocky Run is currently listed on the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Clean Water Act Section 303(d) List of Impaired Waters for habitat and biology. The Plan for Rocky Run Environmental Protection (PRREP) seeks to improve water quality to meet the fishable and swimmable goals of the Federal Clean Water Act, ultimately leading to the stream's removal from the 303(d) listing. The successful restoration of Rocky Run could serve as a model for integrated watershed management in small, mixed-use watersheds locally and regionally. Implementation of this collaborative plan is targeted for completion by 2020, with timing dependent on the chosen solution alternatives.
