[Fritz] Eichberg has arrived in U.S. but is worried about wife who was not to sail until later; will try to advise him; situation of Mr. and Mrs. Baerwald difficult; they will eventually have to leave Germany; K. S. [Mrs. Kathe Stresemann] in worse position; will not be allowed to leave Germany without sacrificing all possessions; heard from Ambassador [Hugh R. Wilson] that he is leasing house in suburbs; had successful legislative session; concerned about German expropriation of American property; if continued, U.S. must retaliate by seizing German property in America; wonders if Ambassador [Wilson] understands importance of financial officers of the State Department working for Treasury.
