Abstract
This dissertation covers research done to determine methods to modify and control morphology and electronic structure of conductive polymers. First, previous studies employed by other researchers are discussed as they would apply to the work covered herein. Followed by a description of the methods employed to take the measurements in the following chapters. The subsequent three chapters cover methods to modify conductive polymers electronic and morphologic structure and the construction of a surface analog for a conductive polymer that can be controlled. The first result was to evaluate the effect of new cleaning technologies on standard materials, it is shown that the chemical structure can be maintained while morphology is not. The second research chapter applies the cleaning method to a conductive polymer and finds that the electronic structure can be remediated from contamination by the cleaning method. Finally, a surface analog of a conductive polymer is constructed the chemistry structure and relativity of which is evaluated, and the electronic structure is elucidated as well as the electronic properties. Lastly, chapter six describes additional collaborative work undertaken, which does not pertain to the subject of this dissertation.
