C- Sept the 22. 1863 Dear Sister I receved your letter about twenty minuts ago but I must say with regret that I hadent the pleasure of reading hit in Charleston but we are something nearer then when I last wrote we are stealing in by inches that is we are still advancing our batries you said that you wanted to no weather I rote to Lydia Janie or not I dident never write to the little sow but got a letter from hur and I no sombody has wrot to hur and put my name to hit by the way hit red so I guess their [page 2] Their is no youse to do eny thing but lay down and laff about hit for she said that she would forgive me I shant tell you eny more then I will no that you wont tell eavrey body but it was laffabel I am goen to write a letter to hur and get the letter so you neadent say eny thing about hit I must bring my scribling to a close by saing that the company is goen on picket and I must git ready to go we are all well and hope these fiew lines will find you all the sam no more G K Pierce to Mary J Pierce [page 3] Write soon.
