Original in Sypherd Papers. Happy that Sypherd finally planning Mexican visit, but sorry he is putting it off a couple of years; Sypherd will probably be hale and hearty at 100; Messersmith nearing 68th birthday and feeling good, but has not courage to plan very far ahead; leaving here by train on Oct. 3 for New York and from there to Ottawa and Montreal; doesn't fly when Marion [Mrs. Messersmith] goes along; hopes to spend two weeks in New York and vicinity; will get in touch with Sypherd from New York and try to spend a day with him in Newark.
