Description
[Ezequiel] Padilla disturbed that he might not be in complete accord with U.S. on Argentine situation; tried to reassure him; Padilla reported conversations with British Ambassador on attitude of British residents in Argentine; Ambassador denied they supported Farrell regime; has received no word from Department since Nov. 5, but daily press carries speculative articles quoting statements attributed to officers of State Department; would be much better to refrain from comment except to say meeting of Foreign Ministers is receiving consideration; anything more leads to confusion and speculation; thinks U.S. should stay in background except to give Padilla proposal support.
