Abstract
Description
[Ezequiel] Padilla saw [Carlos Alberto] Pardo today; Pardo asked whether statement made by Hull had support of other American republics; Padilla replied that Hull had consulted the other American republics before making statement and he was confident they were in accord; Pardo then asked how this situation affected his status in Mexico; Padilla reminded him he was not being received as the Argentine Chargé d'Affaires, but informally and unofficially; Pardo next inquired what Padilla thought attitude of Governments which had recognized Argentine Government would now be; Padilla replied that with exception of Paraguay they had all removed their Chiefs of Mission from Argentina, and he knew they were attached to the idea of solidarity; if Argentine regime had idea it could break solid front through Mexico and Padilla it will have no further illusions when Pardo reports conversation.
